Nelly Process

Just finished this portrait of my friend. Here are a few step shots of how I got it done.

Top left is the sketch. Then on the second image I start to add flat shading. Next I start to punch lights and darks. Finally I add color on a color layer and add some texture for the background with some slight painterly strokes.

Stereotype Series

My goal was to depict different types of stereotypes in an over the top sort of way, to poke fun  at the fact that we place our selves in certain groups because of the way we dress or wear our hair. I learned a great deal about digital painting in the process and a few new techniques.

I had never really dove into fan art. I did not know until now how awesome it is to do work which you are completely inspired by. I think out of anything I have done, (artwise) this has been the most satisfying and best learning experience since college. I tackled a technique which I have never tried, I found a passion in creating characters that I love and re-imagining them. I will probably continue pulling from characters which inspire me in the future.

Aquaman

Soon to come and very excited about it, is my series of super heroes that I plan to do. First on the done list is Aquaman!!! I know: Not that exciting but, I thought Aquaman could use a makeover because and I always thought he looked too whimpy. So hopefully this one is a little more manly. Enjoy!

Summer at the Gulf

Computer Failure:(

Just when I was getting in the groove and whipping new and exciting Illos out, my computer decides to be a pain in my left cheek, and crash!!! It's been about a week and a half and I'm going insane!!! I have no idea if I'm going to lose everything!!!! I really hate technology sometimes....why can't it just work like its supposed to....
